Welcome to Wongs Eat! For those who are new, this blog is different. We are a family of four with not just a love of eating but also a love of quips and silliness. Here you see serious opinions from Kevin and Sylvia mixed in with funny side commentary from Rowan and Declan (aged 7 and 9). May our family dynamics bring you joy, for food is only as good as the company you keep. And please follow us; we’d love to get to know you!
As promised, our recipes are either grand showcases or dead easy scrappy recipes for weekday nights. This is a scrappy one. There will be no long preamble about the merits of bok choy or garlic for your health. But note: this IS good for you!
The boys’ favorite vegetable dish is garlic bok choy. If you have kids who are picky, try this. Inspired by the dish at Hanoi Four Seasons (one of our favorite Vietnamese restaurants), it’s super easy to make. Delicious, healthy, and easy.
You will need:
- 4-5 heads of Shanghai bok choy
- 1 whole garlic bulb (at least 5 cloves)
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Cut ends off boy choy and chop into bite sized pieces
- Peel garlic and chop
- Heat a generous drizzle of oil on medium high heat and fry garlic with a generous amount of salt (1 tsp)
- When the garlic has turned golden brown, add bok choy and fry until done (white ends should be soft and no longer crunchy)

The restaurant is actually Hanoi 3 Seasons. Not to be confused with Four Seasons Total Landscaping in Phillie. Which is not to be confused with the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia. These mistakes happen.
