Tiara Restaurant Queen’s Landing: Good View OK Food

Welcome to Wongs Eat! For those who are new, this blog is different. We are a family of four with not just a love of eating but also a love of quips and silliness. Here you see serious opinions from Kevin and Sylvia mixed in with funny side commentary from Rowan and Declan (aged 7 and 9). May our family dynamics bring you joy, for food is only as good as the company you keep.

Boys: It was great!

We ate breakfast there on our weekend trip during COVID. Declan ordered french toast, Rowan got the breakfast special with waaaay too much meat. But Rowan ate it all with gusto and was full for a very long time.

Sylvia: Declan’s french toast came with a huge round of butter. I told him not to eat it all. So he put to the side. Then I tried it and really liked it. And without him knowing I ended up taking it bit by bit.

Declan: I did not realize that.

Sylvia: The butter was the best part of the meal. It had a crunchy granola with fruits infused in it.

French Toast Breakfast

Rowan: No, the best part was the meat.

Kevin: No, the sausages were beef. I like pork sausages better.

The menu had no prices on it. Which of course bothered Kevin. When the waitress came to take our order Sylvia ordered coffee and a juice for the boys to split. But Sylvia didn’t want the boys having so much sugar. The waitress gave Sylvia “the eyes” and said that she could split the juice into two glasses but make them full glasses by “smile and nod” (adding water). When the waitress left to get the drinks Kevin started analyzing what was included in the meals. The breakfast special could come with an orange juice and coffee and his eggs benedict came with orange juice or coffee.

Kevin: I concluded naturally that we had therefore purchased three drinks and proceeded to ask the waitress if I could get a coffee as well because of the what the menu said.

The waitress politely smiled and explained that she had brought a carafe of coffee that she would refill as much as we wanted so I could have some of that, or if I “was really into coffee” she could bring a separate carafe for me.

Kevin: The carafe was not large. This was not obvious. But it was indeed enough coffee, so I confirmed that what we had already was fine.

Egg Benedict

Rowan: Where we were sitting had a nice view of the Niagara river. We kayaked down that river the last time we were in Niagara. I hope that one day I get to do some great things there.

Sylvia: What kind of great things?

Rowan: Hahaha… just some fun in the play area.

Sylvia: Would you eat at the Tiara restaurant again?

Rowan: Yes. There was yummy stuff just like a buffet at other places. It was great!

Good view and service, ok food. They even had a Santa giving out candy canes for the kids. Can get better food in the area but if you’re staying at Queen’s Landing then can’t beat the convenience.

Kevin: Actually that Santa was a guest, not an employee. There are a lot of retirees in Niagara-on-the-Lake so I think it was just a local who likes to get in the Christmas spirit.

Sylvia: Hmmm….
